Jane is a follower of Jesus, wife to Bill and mom to her three cats Mocha, Bella and Luca. Jane’s personal adventure of faith is rooted in her successful executive career when she learned firsthand the challenges, benefits and downsides of success. With a warm heart for women, Jane now travels the country coaching, speaking and teaching to equip and encourage women to lead fulfilling, purposeful, happy lives.
For decades, I projected an image: successful at work, happily married, and “together.” However, I had made some serious mistakes along the way—ones I couldn’t face and believed I needed to hide from others. In fact, I lived a double life—perfect on the outside, anxious and fearful on the inside. Eventually, my life started to fall apart. I divorced, left my career behind and floundered. Even so, I refused to tell her secrets.
Finally, I found the courage to speak the truth in a safe environment, where I was surprised to discover compassion and concern in place of condemnation. That was the beginning of my journey out of the past and into a more fulfilling future. By God’s grace, I learned to face my past, mourn my losses and regrets, shift perspectives, and move closer to God.
As my past lost more and more of its destructive power, I realized I was living a process of healing and growth, one I can share with others. So I went back to school, became a certified coach, and began offering my extensive experience guiding people in behavior change to help others face their “messy” lives and move forward with hope.
And God has been so faithful! I am remarried to Bill Abbate, a wonderful man of God who supports everything I do. I’ve discovered that God’s purpose for MY life it to SHINE HIS LIGHT, SHARE HIS LOVE and SHAPE HIS PEOPLE. Through coaching, writing, speaking and training, I demonstrate how God can take the messes we make in life and turn them into something wonderful.
My husband Bill is an executive and team coach who is passionate about helping men overcome self-limiting beliefs and step up as true followers of Jesus – in their homes and workplaces.
One of the greatest things about Bill is that he is a great leader who demonstrates his love for me by listening to my endless stories, welcoming my family into our home at any time and jumping headfirst with me into new adventures (ask me about China and Richmond!). Bill is also my role model of physical fitness. He gets me out of the house to enjoy biking, walking, and swimming. We want to enjoy a long, healthy life together.
My Favorite things:
I’m really, truly just a normal woman who’s been so richly blessed. So that you can get to know me better, here are a few of my favorite things:
Taking a cruise to anywhere (Alaska, Greece, Hawaii…hoping to make it to New Zealand and the Holy Land sometime)
Reading mystery novels (Sue Grafton, David Baldacci, Nancy Drew…)
Talking to my sisters
Bike riding with Bill on rails-to-trails
Eating pasta and pizza (and hamburgers, wings, brownies, veal marsala…you get the idea?)
My Everyday Life:
There are three daily activities that keep me healthy, happy and grounded: spending time with the Lord first thing in the morning, exercising in some way and writing in my journal. Whenever one or more of these gets out of balance, I start getting whacky!
